Making Christmas cards for special family and friends is a must during the holiday season. The kids like to create different types of cards so I prepared three projects. Each one helps with fine motor skills, listening skills and creativity. Over the next few days, I will share some of our favorite cards that we made together.
Christmas Tree Card
This is a very easy card for all ages. I found this last year on www.rudyandthedodo.com. Materials needed are colored paper, scissor and glue.
Materials:
1 8½ x11 card stock color paper
Scissors
Glue Stick
Fold an 8 ½ x11 sheet of colored paper in half or cut the sheet in half. I use card stock for all our Christmas card projects, but regular construction paper will work as well.
For the older kids you can have them cut long strips of different color paper. You will need to do this for the younger kids. Then cut those strips different lengths. This is the perfect opportunity to ask your child which strip of paper is bigger or smaller as well as the color.
Cut out a tree stump and a circle for the top. The older kids were able to cut the circle for themselves.
Glue pieces onto the large sheet of paper to make a Christmas tree.
All the kids were working very intensely on this project. Their little minds were trying to figure out bigger and smaller while trying to use their fine motor skills to cut, glue and place their strips of paper. They really had a great time creating their own card. The children didn’t even realize they were learning as they were playing!
